The Pennsylvania STEM Initiative is organized as a multi-agency, public-private partnership managed by a staff team consisting of the State Lead (a senior official representing either the Pennsylvania Department of Education or the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry), and personnel from the Team Pennsylvania Foundation who provide grant administration and program coordination.
Governance for the Pennsylvania STEM Initiative consists of a statewide Leadership Team led by Governor Edward G. Rendell; a Design Team which serves as a multi-dimensional working group responsible for managing the implementation of the program; and the network of five Regional STEM Centers. These teams are further supported by a series of committees focused on specific objectives for the Initiative such as long-range planning, sustainability, and communications.
In addition, a team of consultants assist the State Lead and the Team Pennsylvania Foundation staff with strategy, programming, communications, long-term strategy and other technical areas of the Initiative. Additional assistance is provided by staff and leadership personnel from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, and the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board.
