It is a very exciting time to be a student, deciding what career path to enter at a time filled with so many possibilities.  New technology and new innovations are creating industries that were unimagined just a few years ago.  The opportunity exists to not only be a part of the future as it unfolds but to actively shape it everyday.  Not only that but STEM careers are some of the highest-wage, highest-demand careers.  This section provides an overview of how students can identify and engage in these experiences.

Opportunities are out there for students to experience, first-hand the opportunities that exist in the workplace.  From career fairs and job shadowing, where students get to speak with working professionals and understand what is involved in their career, to internships and apprenticeship programs where students receive hands-on experience, mentoring and sometimes even financial compensation, their are more opportunities than ever to gather first-hand knowledge and experience of the career field of your choice.

Search the program directory and your region's home page for a list of local programs that you can get involved in to enhance your education and experience.  Most importantly, students should maintain communication with their high school guidance counselor, post secondary advisors as well as any and all favorite teachers.  These professionals can share perspective and guidance that are not available any other way.
